[edit] Is having the logos a fair use and are they necessary?

Due to recent deletions going on in conference pages and other sports pages...is it fair use to have the logos on this page? Also, if it is fair use shouldn't they be smaller? Evill72 01:36, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

I believe they are fair use because they are being used to illustrate a sporting event the two teams participate in. But I do agree that they could be smaller so I reduced them to 150px. Do you think this is sufficient? KnightLago 02:50, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

I think the size is better now, maybe a bit smaller wouldn't hurt...maybe we can make an infobox for the game and incorporate the logos...what do you think? Evill72 03:10, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I'm an intellectual property lawyer. Fair use is sort of a sliding scale, with a number of factors tipping the scale one way or the other. This use is unlikely to affect the commercial value of the logos, and is being used to illustrate the connection with the actual institutions; the logos are quick identifiers of public entities about which the public has the right to know.
