Showcase Presents

Showcase Presents is a DC Comics collection created as DC's own version of Essential Marvel Comics. It consists in 500+ pages books of black & white reprints of DC Comics (mostly silver age material at present). Other similarities to the Essential collection is the average cost of $16.99 and the fact that each Showcase series is devoted to one character.
The name "Showcase" comes from a 1950s DC anthology used as a stage to try out new characters. Showcase featured the first appearances of the Silver Age Flash and Green Lantern.
The collections follow the DC Archive Editions which reprint older comics in a more expensive format, and the cheaper Batman and Superman Chronicles which reprint golden age comics.
