Shottie

A Shottie Bottle, sometimes known as a Gun, Shotgun or Shot, is a device for smoking cannabis. It is a variation of the bong originating from the Southwest, England (or more specifically; Chard, Somerset, Taunton, Ilminster, Yeovil, Bristol, South-West Area of England) It is now in common use in large and medium sized citys all over the UK and increasingly popular in Holland.

[edit] The History of the Shottie
Originally photographed and defined on the internet by Somerset's Drum & Bass MC Skuph, 5 Years ago maybe un-heard of outside of somerset - a now world famous method of smoking sensimilia, grass, pollen or hash. With people also using it to smoke substances such as Amphetemines, MDMA and Cocaine now becoming a growing trend. The popularity of a shottie has grown amongst the marijuana smoking community because of it's economical value.

Shotties can be made out of any type of plastic bottle that has reasonably thick walls. A good test for a suitable bottle is whether or not it can withstand the pressure of someone sucking on the bottle with the lid off. The most common 'shottie bottle' is a 500ml fanta or coca-cola bottle. If you want to be different try Ketchup bottles, washing up liquid bottles, etc these simply have stronger walls if you like to really suck hard. But remember the chemicals in washing up don't taste great so wash it really good, the ketchup bottle will smell funky if not seriously washed well also.
You can use water if you like or if you are chardcore you can use a variety of spirits such as a good quality vodka or whisky or liquid ketemine (be very careful of liquid splash back in the latter's case as this would be fataly dangerous to your lips!) Water with ice cubes in is mandatory if girls are smoking for the first time.

Exactly the same as a Shottie but instead of made out of a coca-cola bottle or something disposable it is made from converting a shop bought bong that is glass or something. There is yet a manufacturer of king shotties.
[edit] Making a shottie
A small hole is then made in the bottle about a quarter of the way up by heating the side of the bottle with a lighter . A downpipe i.e. just a hollow tube made of metal is then pushed through the hole into the bottle. a tube wich became widely accepted as the best kind to use is a tyre pressure gauge. A typical shottie would then be filled with a liquid (usually water), however it is possible to use a shottie without liquid, but this adds a 'harsh' effect on the throat of the smoker once the smoke is inhaled. A shottie without liquid would usually be called a shotgun.

This can be done with dried canabis bud, resin or a mixture of both the bud needs to be finely chopped up this can be done by simply picking it appart and puting it in a shot glass and cutting it up with scissors or the resin finely crumbled and flatteded out so as the tube can be dabbed on to it.if you are useing soapbar(hash)to make the mix heat with a lighter for a few seconds crumble it off make a small pile and then crush it with a lighter untol it is very fine
[edit] Smoking a shottie
Once the shottie has been filled with liquid, a plug of rolling tobacco is pushed in to the downpipe, or about 1/2cm of a straight ciggarette can be pushed in to the end of the tube and cut with a razor blade, this minimises mess and makes for a smoother shottie. The tobbaco is to make sure that the cannabis is held in place and does not fall down into the bottle. Cannabis is then put (or 'dabbed') on top of the plug of tobacco. Dried cannabis leaf or bud is typically used in a shottie as it produces a cleaner, stronger smoke, however, cannabis resin can also be used. Once the cannabis has been put into the downpipe a person might smoke the shottie. To do this, the user would hold the bottle to their mouth (they would make sure that the bottom of the downpipe is submerged), hold a lighter to the cannabis, then cream the shottie by sucking on the bottle gently whilst the lighter is burning the cannabis. If done correctly, a thick layer of smoke should float above the waterline. This process is to be done for as long as possible before the cannabis/tobacco mix has almost disappeared. Once the bottle has a substantial amount of smoke in it and the cannabis/tobacco mix has started to loosen sufficiently in the tube, the smoker violently and quickly inhales on the bottle, causing the cannabis/tobacco plug to travel down the pipe, into the bottle. This causes the smoke that has accumulated in the bottle to be released rapidly into the smoker's lungs.
[edit] Variations of smoking the shottie
To create less smoke in the room you are smoking in, an ideal way would be to "ghostie" it, or "kill the smoke." To do this, the smoker is required to keep the inhaled smoke in their lungs until it is safe to exhale without smoke. This creates a stronger buzz and helps to keep the room smoke-free. After a while in most shotties the water will become dirty and begin to smell, this is easily compromised with a water change but it is known as unluckly if it is you that has to do the cleaning. many people just create a new shottie. Another name for the shottie is a chouta, a "ronnie routa" or a yatti.
also when doing a shottie when you rip it stand up as you do so this increases the effects also holding the smoke in and running around increases the effects
A shottie can also be made using a regular bong if the bowl on the end of the downpipe is unscrewed. However, this is not as effective or enjoyable and so is seldom done.
Shotties are a favoured form of smoking cannabis due to their effect on the smoker. The fact that a large amount of smoke is being pushed into the lungs in a very short amount of time causes the smoker to feel the effects of the cannabis much more than one might after smoking a joint. The other main reason for shotties being a favoured method of cannabis smoking is due to the amount of cannabis used (a very small amount compared to the amount used in a joint) while still getting the same effect.
The term "shottie" is also used as casual or abbreviated slang for shotgun, especially when referring to tactical shotguns.

[edit] Yatti
The name "Yatti" originated in the Muskoka-Bracebridge area outside of Toronto, Ontario but has now been spread throughout Canada. The yatti is now a favourite method of smoking for many Canadian youths from St. John's to Vancouver. The yatti is perfect for conserving marijuana so it has become very popular with university students.
The yatti kit consists of 3-4 inch metal downpipe or glass stem with the width of a cigarette, a razor blade, a packer, a cigarette and of course marijuana. The metal downpipe gives a harsher hit while the glass stem gives a smoother hit. To increase the potency of the yatti, one can dab kif or hash on top after the marijuana is dabbed on. Kif can be accumulated by grinding up the marijuana in a coffee grinder and then banging the lid.
