Shonyo Kokyo

Shonyo Kokyo (1516-1554) the founder of the famous sect, Ishiyama Honganji during the Sengoku Period of the 16th century. Kokyo was the grandson of Jitsunyo Koken. After the Yamashina Honganji was destroyed in Kyoto following the year of 1532 by the Hosokawa, Rokkaku, and Nichiren sect, the Ishiyama Honganji was established.
