Shockwave Productions,Inc. is a PC flight simulator software developer or computer game development company headed by Scott Gentile. In addition Shockwave Productions is also a sound and visual effects developer which uses their Absolute RealismTM technology in the design of flight simulators and has other diverging commercial contracted business as well.
Shockwave Productions' first major PC release was their Firepower flight simulation add-on for Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3: Battle for Europe which was sold in 2004 to Vintage WWII era military aviation combat type flight simulator enthusiasts and became a successful title for the company. The Player could man different positions in a bomber for instance and operate a simulated bombsight or man other aircrew positions. It featured both bomber aircraft, fighter aircraft, exotic aircraft that were designed but never built during WWII, and also featured were exotic ordnance such as Fat Man or Little Boy atomic bombs that could be used in Microsoft's simulation to simulate a nuclear bombing of a target.
Their next release was Wings of Power WWII Heavy Bombers and Jets which was strictly a control-only add-on to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 in which no military combat took place. Rather the simulation featured authentic working aircraft controls and cockpit instruments, flight procedures and close to authentic aerodynamic flight dynamics of vintage World War II military aircraft, including the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-29 Superfortress and B-24 Liberator. The software also sold in 2004.
In 2006 Shockwave released Battle of Britain II Wings of Victory which was a remake of Rowan's Battle of Britain (released in 2000) after its legal acquisition and transfer of rights. The simulation was extensivly modified especially for improved graphics. The software recreates the historic Battle of Britain aerial warfare during WWII.
Also in 2006 the company came out with Wings of Power II WWII Fighters. This is similar to Shockwave's earler Wings of Power Heavy Bombers and Jets in its functionality and purpose but features WWII fighter aircraft.
In addition the company released Aircraft Powerpack under Wild Hare and 2wg media in 2006. This combines Firepower for Microsoft's CFS3 with Wings of Power WWII Heavy Bombers and Jets for Microsoft's FS2004 and FSX.In addition there is an exclusive Firepower P-51 added.
Shockwave Productions also has other Wings of Power type aircraft but these are only available as a payware download on their website.
