Shobna Gulati is an English actress, writer and dancer. She was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England, on August 7, 1966. Her father was a doctor. She has two older sisters and a younger brother. She has one son. She attended the Hulme Grammar School in earlier life.

She played the part of Anita in the TV comedy series dinnerladies. She has also appeared in Rani Moorthy's play Dancing Within Walls and Nona Shepphard's Crazy Lady In 2000 she played Ameena Badawi in EastEnders. She is best known for appearing in the long-running soap opera Coronation Street in the role of Sunita Alahan a shop assistant, joining the cast in 2001. She has also appeared in BAFTA award winning 2001, Shadowscan directed by Tinge Krishnan

Shobna has also appeared on the TV quiz shows Call My Bluff and Have I Got News for You and as Diana Ross in Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes. In early 2006 she took part in musical reality show Soapstar Superstar. At the end of 2005, it was announced that she would be leaving Coronation Street. Her last appearance was in the episode broadcast on February 1st 2006. At the end of February it was revealed that she would be joining the cast of ITV drama as new district nurse Nisha Clayton. Where the Heart Is, and she made her first appearance in the show in August 2006. She has also appeared in the New Street Law, as the accused wife of a child murderer, a new series for BBC 1 (Red Productions) and in Magnolia by Dave Spikey for Comedy Playhouse (BBC 1) also for Red Productions to be screened in September 2006. In 2007 she is joining as a story tellers for the new launch of Jackanory for the BBC.

Shobna also appeared at the Royal Albert Hall as part of comedy skit featured in The Secret Policeman's Ball. In the skit, Shobna and co-star Nitin Ganatra play a holidaying couple who are under the mistaken belief Guantanamo Bay is a holiday resort. The skit also starred US actors Chevy Chase and Seth Green.
