Through marriages, she became Shirley alston and later, Shirley Alston Reeves. Shirley along withe the Shirelles were the first black female singing group to sell a million copies of a 45,and the first to have a #1 single. The song,the classic "Will you love me tomorrow"

She left the Shirelles in 1975 to begin a solo career.
