The Shire of Victoria Plains is a Local Government Area of Western Australia based in the town of Calingiri (31°05′S 116°26′E; post code: 6569). It covers an area of about 2,600 km² in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia generally to the east of Great Northern Highway about 150km north of the capital, Perth. It has a population of 973 (ABS 2001).

In 1871, the Victoria Plains Road Board was gazetted and was responsible for an area as far north as Carnamah and east to the South Australian border. These areas gradually obtained their own local government over the next 40 years.. On 1 July 1961, the area that remained became the Victoria Plains Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act.[1]
