The Shire of Narrogin is a Local Government Area of Western Australia centred on (but not including) the town of Narrogin (32°56′S 117°10′E; post code: 6312). It covers an area of about 1,600 km² in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia on either side of the Great Southern Highway about 190km south-east of the capital, Perth. It has a population of 846 (ABS 2001).

In 1892, the Narrogin Road Board was gazetted. On 1 July 1961, it became the Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act. In 1999 and 2004, proposals to merge the council with the Narrogin Town Council were defeated at referendum.^[1]
