Shinkiro (Japanese: 森気楼, Shinkirō) is a Japanese illustrator and conceptual artist currently employed by Capcom. Prior to joining Capcom, Shinkiro was employed by SNK, where he provided the character designs and cover illustrations for their Neo-Geo games, including the King of Fighters and Metal Slug series, until he was laid off due to SNK's bankruptcy in 2000. At Capcom, Shinkiro has done several cover artworks and character designs for various games, including Dino Stalker, Final Fight One, Dead Rising, Resident Evil: Dead Aim and the Game Boy Advance version of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. He has also done covers for American comics such as Spider-Man Unlimited and Udon's Street Fighter comic series. Compared to his successors, Nona and Falcoon, his techniques involves detailed gradation giving anime-like characters a realistic feel. However, some detractors feel that his characters "have the same face" or facial expression. Some go as far to compare every Shinkiro-drawn face to the actor George Clooney's. Out of the three King of Fighters artist, fans adore much of Shinkiro's work and were upset when Shinkiro jumped to Capcom after SNK went bankrupt.
