Shikhare is a very common family name in the Maharashtra state of India. The name Shikhare is believed to be an improvisation of word (Shikhar). Shikhar means mountain peak. Shikhare were people who used to conquer mountain peaks.

Most of the Shikhare's are Saraswat Or Deshastha Brahmins by caste.
