Provision of Medical Care is the basic right of every citizen. Current public infrastructure of Health Sector of Pakistan is not as sufficient as required. Many civil society organizations are supporting this sector but still there is huge gap. It is one of the main objectives of Qarshi Foundation (foundatin@qarshi.com) to provide quality medical care to the underprivileged free of cost. Qarshi Foundation is has targeted the district Sheikhupura, where the situation is very pathetic. There are District Hospitals & Basic Health Units but in a very small number. The private hospitals and clinics are available only in the urban sites of the district. More than 100 villages are far from the main roads and have no access to reach to the urban sites. Due to illiteracy the women of the area are suffering more specially in reproductive / gynecology health care. There is no concept of Antenatal chekups of the potential mothers. Their culture does not allow them to go to the hospitals and doctors. Most of the women get treatment by the TBAs (Traditional Birth Attendants).

In this area Qarshi Foundation has established a Model Complex (situated at 11 Km. Narowal road Muridkay) based on a concept of 25 years life cycle. This Model Complex consists upon the Mother & Child Health Care Center, School, Dispensary, Vocational Training Institute.
Government operated “Basic Health Units” and hospitals are not in sufficient numbers, also most of them are not operated. On the other hand private dispensaries are very expansive. The women needing gynae care / treatment have to reach there by walking on foot or on the cart / trolleys. Through the project of Mother & Child Health Care Center / Gynae Care/ Medical Camping, Qarshi Foundation is aiming to address gynae, general & reproductive health care with the involvement of local community of the district Sheikhupura.
