[edit] History
The true origins of the Orochi fighter known as Shermie are shrouded in mystery. She, along with Yashiro Nanakase and Chris, entered the KOF '97 tournament. They originally formed a music band called "CYS" (based on the first letter of the name of each member), where Shermie played the keyboards. Later on in the tournament, it is revealed that Shermie was one of the Orochi heavenly kings alongside Goenitz. Their plan for entering the tournament was to gather enough power to resummon the Orochi from his seal. After gathering enough energy, Shermie and the rest of the New Face Team poured it all into Chris, who used it to make a startling transformation into the original Orochi.
The ending of the New Face Team in KOF '97 has Yashiro killing off both Shermie and Chris before committing suicide. It is believed that this ending, along with the fact that Yashiro and Shermie are willing to give their lives for the resurrection of the Orochi in the cinemas, reinforces the fact that the New Face Team most likely perished in this tournament.
[edit] Orochi Shermie
Orochi Shermie is an alternate version of Shermie. Her normal and throw moves remain exactly the same, but her special/super moves are completely different.
Shermie's awakened form is called Heavenly Queen of the Ecstatic Lightning, making her a counterpart for Benimaru Nikaido. The counterpart theory is further evidenced in her possessing his DM Heaven Blast Fist, only titled Dark Heaven Blast Fist in her version. Unlike Benimaru, Shermie is not capable of altering the direction of it (i.e. she can only perform it forward, while Benimaru can angle it up/forward if desired, Benimaru can also perform the special move version in the air).
In KOF '02, Orochi Shermie has an HDM, where she will call down a lightning bolt to strike the arena. However, this lightning bolt is erratic, it may strike her opponent, her, or both. However, Shermie may roll away just before the lightning strikes while her opponent can't. Chances are if Shermie is able to use the HDM (i.e. low health), the damage from the lightning bolt will kill her if she gets hit.
[edit] Trivia
- Shermie appears as Clark's Another Striker in KOF 2000.
- Shermie and Angel have the largest bust measurement of all KOF females (92 cm). This is larger than Blue Mary's and Mature's 88 cm, and seconded only by Vice's and Elisabeth's 90 cm.
- Shermie appears in both Tower Festival stages in KOF: Maximum Impact 2. Coincidentally, the Tower Festival is set in Shermie's homeland, France.
- It is stated on KOF 10th that "L the Third" is the inspirational material for Shermie. This might mean is Lupin the 3rd, in which case it implies that she was probably inspired by the character Fujiko Mine.
