Shenendehowa Central School District

The Shenendehowa Central School District is located in Clifton Park, New York, a suburb 12 miles north of Albany, NY. The district is well known in the area for both academics and athletics, and for its large size.The school nickname is the Plainsmen (mainly used in athletics), its mascot is the stallion, and the school colors are green and white. Each school in the district is named after Native American words or phrases with academic themes. The name "shenendehowa" means "the great plains".

  • Arongen Elementary School ("arongen" means "to understand"); located off campus near Exit 9
  • Chango Elementary School ("chango" means "happy and cheerful"); located off campus near Exit 11
  • Karigon Elementary School ("karigon" means "to join together"); located on main campus off Route 146
  • Okte Elementary School ("okte" means "to achieve"); located off campus near Exit 8
  • Orenda Elementary School ("orenda" means "great spirit"); located on main campus off Route 146
  • Skano Elementary School ("skano" means "peace"); located on main campus off Route 146
  • Tesago Elementary School ("tesago" means "courage"); located on main campus off Route 146

  • Acadia Middle School ("acadia" means "place of plenty")
  • Gowana Middle School ("gowana" means "great")
  • Koda Middle School ("koda" means "friend")

All three middle schools are located in one building, yet run under individual administration, though they share a single lead principal.

There are two buildings for the high school: the East building was the original high school, and the West building, which was formally Koda Junior High, now houses high school freshmen.
