Sheimi (シェイミ Sheimi?) is one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Sheimi is one of the legendary Pokémon that appears in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The purpose of Sheimi in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]

[edit] Characteristics

Sheimi is a hedgehog-like creature, with spines replaced by grass. Sheimi has flowers beside its head. Sheimi resides in a garden. In order to go unnoticed, it can roll up into a ball resembling a flower. It also has the power to decompose the toxins in the air and turn the land into flower fields in an instant.
It also appears to resemble a Chia Pet.

[edit] In the video games

Sheimi will make its first appearance in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS along with many other new Pokémon.

Sheimi is one of the Event Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The other ones are Manaphy, Darkrai, and Aruseus.

Sheimi, like Mew, Celebi, Jirachi and Manaphy, has a base value of 100 for every stat. In addition, it is the first pure Grass-type legendary Pokémon.

Sheimi is only obtainable through a Nintendo event, in which you will receive Oak's Letter, which, when turned in to Professor Oak allows you to visit an extension of a previously visited route, called Flower Elysium. There, you will find a level 30 Sheimi.

A major glitch has been announced by Game Freak that enables capture of Sheimi (along with Darkrai) despite the fact that it is an Event Pokémon, but this is being patched.
