Sheila Cussons

Sheila Cussons was a South African poet born in 1922. She studied fine arts at the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Publishing ten volumes of poetry over her life, she received the Herzog prize once and the WA Hofmeyr prize twice. She was also awarded the Ingrid Jonker, Eugene Marais and the CNA prizes. In 2002, the University of Stellenbosch displayed a retrospective exhibition of her life work. She died in 2004.
