"She's Like the Wind" was a 1987 hit pop/rock song written and performed by actor Patrick Swayze alongside Wendy Fraser. The song demonstrated Swayze's previously unknown singer/songwriter talents.
When the producers of the 1987 film Dirty Dancing were finalizing the movie's soundtrack, Swayze wrote the song and asked if he could sing it. The producers and director agreed. The song, like the film in which it was featured, was a success, reaching #3 on American pop charts, and #1 around the world. It is still in circulation on radio.
The song was originally to be played in Swayze's 1984 movie Grandview, U.S.A. but instead accompanied his starring role in Dirty Dancing in 1987. The music video of "She's Like the Wind" can be seen on the Dirty Dancing DVD.
Also featured in the hit 90's television show "Beverly Hills, 90210 Season 1, Episode 9 -"Isn't It Romantic"
In 1989, Swayze co-wrote the song "Next of Kin," but it was not as successful.
The song, "She's Like the Wind" was later covered by Vibekingz and Maliq, and in 2006 by Lumidee featuring Tony Sunshine.
