Shane Lawrence (born December 28, 1982) is an Applications Developer in Kelowna, British Columbia.

[edit] Early Life
Shane was born in Abbotsford, British Columbia to parents of Canadian and Irish descent. He is an only child. When he was six, his family relocated to Kelowna, British Columbia where he currently resides.
Since he was young, Shane has been intrigued by various forms of technology, mainly computers and mobile devices. Growing up, he spent most of his free time playing with his family's computer, much to the chagrin of his father, a heavy-duty mechanic.

Shane attended christian private schools for the majority of his school-going life, finally transitioning to public school in his final year, due to personal conflicts with the schools' policies. Currently, he identifies as agnostic, being disillusioned with the christian faith and after a brief foray into wicca.
Academically, he showed the greatest strengths in language studies (both English and French). He learned to read at an early age (pre-kindergarten) from his father who was housebound, recovering from back surgery, thus giving him an advantage when he began school.
In his final year, he neglected to complete a work experience report in his career planning class, and thus did not officially graduate. Despite going through the rituals of the graduation ceremony and prom, he has not received British Columbia's Dogwood Certificate.

After completing school in 2001, Shane landed his first job at Tim Hortons, a Canadian donut franchise.

In September of the same year, he gained an entry-level clerical position at the same law firm as his mother, performing menial duties such as photocopying, data entry, and working as a courier. He also assisted his mother in the marketing department.
Over the course of several months, Shane began to prove his usefulness with computers to his co-workers and supervisors, and eventually moved out of the clerical department and began working in Information Technology, designing database applications and web sites, among other things.
In 2004, his job title was officially changed to "Senior Applications Developer" - a far cry from his beginnings as "the photocopy guy".
In early 2005, he also briefly wore the hat of System Administrator when the firm's existing SysAdmin resigned from the company.
Later that year, after a string of personal conflicts with the replacement SysAdmin, as well as an increasing distaste for middle management, Shane resigned from the law firm to take a new job working for an architect.

Shane has been an avid Wikipedia reader since 2004, often making daily trips to the site to research virtually anything that catches his interest. After leeching knowledge for such a long time, he decided to create an account in December of 2005 and do his best to contribute to the Wikipedia project. He originally posted under the name Terschinbrae, but has since opted for a more "personal" username.
Most of his edits to Wikipedia are minor corrections (grammar, typos, links, etc.)
