[edit] Notability

Ah, someone else deleted it just after I created it a few minutes ago, too. Try googling "Shawn Scallen photographer" and see that he is cited on an endless list of sites: photogaphy credits, mentions by bands, photographers citing him as an influence. It's true, he is only well known within the punk subculture but I don't think that invalidates his work. For example, he has photography credits on pretty much any site about Fugazi [1][2] and all over the Dischord records website. WP:OSTRICH. Dan Carkner 22:55, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

  • When I google this, I get 8 hits. --NMChico24 22:57, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
  • This search yields 300. I just unquoted the word photographer. --NMChico24 22:59, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
So, reading through those hits, wouldn't you say he is notable enough?Dan Carkner 23:00, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
The burden of proof is on the originator of the article to assert notability, presenting evidence in line with WP:BIO guidelines and bearing Wikipedia:Reliable sources in mind also. (aeropagitica) 05:04, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

The problem is that the person who keeps blanking the page is the subject of the article--Shawn Scallen. Keep in mind, from WP:LIVING: "...reverting someone who is trying to remove libel about themselves is a horribly stupid thing to do." I am going to see if I can get this article removed in the respects of privacy of a non-public person.. Dan Carkner 15:47, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
