Talk:Shadow Of Rome

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've changed/removed most of what was in here before because it sounded more like a review than an informative article. I dunno if you've noticed, but this is Wikipedia, and its articles are supposed to have neutral points of view. Reviews don't. Cheats and "Salvos" aren't supposed to go here either. GameFAQs always has pages for that.--DethFromAbove 01:16, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Stop the wholesale butchering of this article. How about I delete the 'Missions' and 'Medals' sections (which venture to the so-called "GameFAQs" territory you mention, and have quite an equivalence with sections in this SoR article) from your precious Star_Wars:_Battlefront_II article, huh? You wouldn't like that one darn bit. Furthermore, you delete the PAL cover-art (which had the precedence of being the first territory to get SoR), and the perfectly fine advertisment image, amongst other things. Note that I kept in your story summary for SoR, which was a good help to the article. --0836whimper 19:30, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

This isn't some personal thing I'm trying to start. The viewpoint of this article is not by any means objective, which is why I changed and removed most of what was there. For example, you state that The overall presentation, storyline, FMV cut scenes, frame rate update, backgrounds, sound effects, character models and graphics textures are of a high quality. The voice-overs are passable and the music is decent. You know, I think the music for the game is breathtaking, and the voiceovers are pretty good. Should I edit the article to show my viewpoint of the game? Nah, I don't think so. I do agree, as well, that everything else you've listed is of high quality, but surprise surprise, others don't think so! This article isn't your pet. If you created it and expected it to be left alone, you made a very grave mistake. Keep reviews at GameFAQs, please.
To reiterate, cheats tips, and other gaming-related things do not belong in encyclopedia articles. While I do agree that the Medals portion should be taken out of the Battlefront II article, you should note that the article doesn't tell you how to obtain these. Wikipedia isn't a place to come on and look for cheats. I hinted that you should link to the GameFAQs page under Related links, but that seems to have fallen on deaf ears. About the PAL cover art, I don't know if you've noticed, but most, if not all, gaming articles contain only one, and guess what, it's usually the NTSC cover art! Ignoring this, the PAL and NTSC covers for the game are nearly identical, and putting both of them in would only be rehashing what we've already seen. I'll admit, removing the character list was not necessary, but all the other subjective stuff has to go.--DethFromAbove 06:53, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] History

There should be a list of everything that was historically inaccurate about this game, because just about everything that happened was made up and is a lie.

It's made up, but by no means a lie.

Lie is usually defined as stating something to be true while knowing it is not.Capcom never stated that they would make historically accurate games. The only historically accurate game i've ever played is Rome: Total Realism.Centurion Ry 10:42, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
