Shashank was a Shaiva king in Bengal around 600 C. E. Hsuen Tsang has contended from hearsay that King Shashank had persecuted Buddhists and had felled the Bodhi tree. But this is a debatable assertion, since Hsuen Tsang also subsequently reports himself seeing a fully mature Bodhi tree during his visit, and it is unclear how a sapling can grow into a tree overnight.

Shashank (born November 22, 1979) is a Tollywood film actor. Shashank's first film was Aithe. The film went on to be a hit. His second film Sye was also a hit and appealed quite well to the youth.
