[edit] Career
[edit] Miss Black America (1991)
Sharmell won the Miss Black America pageant in 1991. The pageant that year was overshadowed by accusations of rape by another competitor, Desiree Washington, against Mike Tyson, who served as a pageant judge. After winning the title, Sullivan would begin a career in professional dance. She would tour with several hip-hop artists and R&B bands, including a 3½ year stint with James Brown.
[edit] World Championship Wrestling (1999-2001)
Sullivan joined World Championship Wrestling's Nitro Girl dance troupe in 1999 under the name Storm. When the Nitro Girls began becoming more involved in WCW storylines Sullivan found herself as valet for The Artist, redubbing herself as Paisley. She frequently got into catfights Billy Kidman's valet Torrie Wilson and later with Chris Candido's girlfriend Tammy Lynn Sytch. Sullivan made her in-ring singles debut against Sytch on the April 26, 2000 edition of "Thunder," winning with a DDT.
Following The Artist's release from WCW, Sullivan began to manage Kwee Wee. She also formed an alliance with fellow former Nitro girl Tygress. The two ladies frequently double-teamed the Misfits in Action's valet Major Gunns.
Sullivan was also a part of the pop music group Diversity 5 with other Nitro Girls Fyre, Spice, Chae, and Tygress. When she signed with the WWE she was replaced in the group by Chiquita Anderson who was also in the Nitro Girls.
[edit] World Wrestling Entertainment (2001)
When WCW was bought by the WWF in 2001, Sullivan signed a developmental contract, with the intent of becoming a full-time in-ring performer, and was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling for training. She was called Sister Sharmell and wore a blonde wig there, as valet for The Suicide Blondes. She appeared on SmackDown as the backstage interviewer in 2001 using her real full name for a while. Sullivan's training was cut short by a knee injury, and was released later that year. Sullivan has since retired from in-ring action.
[edit] Return to WWE (2005-Present)
Sullivan was re-hired by WWE in 2005, originally debuting as a face, but turning into a heel valet for her real-life husband Booker T when he changed preferences as well. Early on, Sullivan would cheat to secure victories for her then-face husband, without his knowing. Booker T would later turn heel after winning the WWE United States Title (due to Sullivan's interference) from Chris Benoit on an October edition of SmackDown. Booker T apologized to Benoit for Sullivan's interference and offered a rematch, but soon after turned on Benoit, revealing that he was aware of his wife's rulebreaking all along. Sullivan along with Booker T, would be stalked by the Boogeyman all throughout March. The Boogeyman would even kidnap Sullivan two days before WrestleMania. As a result, at WrestleMania 22, Sullivan would team up with Booker T to face the Boogeyman. At WrestleMania during the match, The Boogeyman would lay a big kiss on Sullivan with a mouth full of worms, however the match would be short when the Boogeyman tore his left biceps. Despite the injury, the Boogeyman would still win the match.
Since Booker T's victory at the King of the Ring tournament, Sullivan and Booker T have adopted a king and queen gimmick. The gimmick would lead to Booker T changing his name to King Booker and Sullivan changing her WWE name to Queen Sharmell. At SummerSlam 2006, she helped her husband retain by hitting Batista with her shoe. At Cyber Sunday, Sharmell tried to help her husband King Booker to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, but received an F-U for her troubles. So far she has not been in any fueds or wrestled with other divas.
[edit] Personal Life
Sharmell has a step son, Brandon, from Booker's first wife.
