[edit] Transformers: Generation 1 (1986)

Sharkticons are fictional aliens from the Transformers universe.

The ravenous Sharkticons, the most famous and deadly of the Quintessons' subordinates, are rotund robots capable of transforming into ferocious amphibious creature modes. They would carry out the Quintessons' sentences, consuming victims dropped into their pit, and were also used for performing commando style raids and missions, though their limited intelligence meant that tasks entrusted to them were generally simple.

Sharkticons first appeared in The Transformers: The Movie in 1986. A Sharkticon toy was released under the name Gnaw that same year. The character Gnaw appeared in Dreamwave's Transformers comic in 2004, as a companion of Wheelie.

The name Sharkticon was given to an individual Decepticon in the Transformers: Energon toyline in 2004. He turned into shark shaped submarine.

Sharkticon has an appetite for destruction along with a repulsive stench. Recruited by Scorponok for space reconnaissance, this evil Decepticon proved very quickly that his true skills were best displayed during space battle and underwater combat. His powerful jaws are his greatest weapons. His cruel way of destroying an enemy has been known to sicken his Decepticon allies, including Megatron, on many occasions. Even his teammate, Shockwave, is repulsed by Sharkticon's personality and stink. In vehicle mode, he can out-maneuver some of Optimus Prime's most skilled Autobots. In robot mode, he takes down the enemy with merciless precision and pure enjoyment.

Sharkticon appeared in the Dreamwave Energon comics.

Dreamwave Summer Special - Now in command of the Decepticons, Megatron sends Snow Cat, Slugslinger and Sharkticon each on missions to steal copies of the plans for Omega Supreme from the Autobot's Ocean City. Snow Cat failed when he was confronted by Omega Supreme himself. Slugslinger failed to get in because he tried to sneak in a waste disposal unit and was flushed out. Sharkticon was overpowered by underwater defences and then tossed out by Kicker and the Mini-Cons Jetstorm, Runway and Sonar. Each of the three made up stories to Megatron as to why they failed. After consideration Megatron decided that Slugslinger's story was the more impressive lie and appointes him as his lieutenant.

Transformers: Energon Promotional Comic #3 - Slugslinger and Sharkticon attempt to break into an Autobot island facility. Shockblast scrambles the security system with an electromagnetic pulse from orbit and Mirage patrols the island. When the Decepticons are caught by Autobots Bulkhead and Towline, Mirage rushes to provide backup but is confronted by Omega Supreme. Tow Line wounds Slugslinger in combat. Omega Supreme takes out Mirage, Sharkticon and Shockblast as they are escaping.

[edit] Transformers: Universe

In 2005 Energon Sharkticon was repackaged in Transformers: Universe packaging, but the toy was unaltered from his Energon toy.
