Shanglie Zhou

Shanglie Zhou: Visual artist. Born in Shanghai, 1958. Lives in Belgium. Best known for her 1997 art event in a Delhaize supermarket in Antwerp in which she displayed works of art, shrinkwrapped and price tagged, amongst the ordinary store items. Shoppers could then load them into their trolley and pay at the counter. In this project she also performed as a normal employee of the store. In 2004 she staged a performance theater piece with refugees from a refugee-camp in Belgium, "When The Moon Waxed Red".
