Shanghai Indoor Stadium

The Shanghai Indoor Stadium (上海体育馆) is a multipurpose gymnasium in Shanghai, China. Hailed as a feat of engineering at the time of its construction, the building is now considered dated and out-classed by newly constructed sporting facilities nearby. The Indoor Stadium is now used mostly for entertainment events rather than sporting competition.

Shanghai Indoor Stadium is close to Shanghai Stadium. The two facilities have very similar names in Chinese - the Indoor Stadium is literally called a "Sports Hall" (体育馆) while the Shanghai Stadium is called a "Sports Field" (体育场) - while in English their names differ only by the addition of "Indoor". This has been a source of confusion, especially after the opening of Shanghai Metro Line 4, which has two adjacent stations named Shanghai Indoor Stadium and Shanghai Stadium.
Shanghai Indoor Stadium is at the same time also the name of a metro station on the Shanghai Metro Line 1 and Shanghai Metro Line 4.
This station is close to Caoxi Lu station of Shanghai Metro Line 3. But you need to re-buy ticket and walk a long time(even longer than the interchange road in People's Square and you need to cross one of the busies road of Shanghai and a one of the busiest buses terminal stop in Shanghai, so strong recommed you do not transfer line here.
If you want have a short interchange between Shanghai Metro Line 1 and Shanghai Metro Line 3 and you think Shanghai South Railway Station is far, you can take Shanghai Metro Line 1 to this station, and if you are lucky enough that your destinaiton is between Hongqiao Lu and Baoshan Lu,then interchange Shanghai Metro Line 4 ,otherwise,take Shanghai Metro Line 4 to Hongqiao Lu, interchange Shanghai Metro Line 3.
