Inspector Shrivastav (Kader Khan) a honest cop is framed by a powerful gangster and commits suicide by hanging himself. His son Vijay Kumar Shrivastav (Amitabh Bachchan) grows up to become a seemingly coward and simpleton policeman. However unknown to anyone he is actually leading a double life. During the day he is a policeman and by night he is a costumed crime-fighter known as Shahenshah who is Judge, Jury and Executioner all in one for crimnals and gangsters and sets out to take revenge on a gangster named JK (Amrish Puri) who was responsible for his father's death.
The only So-called weapon he carries is the rope which his dad used to hang himself.
