Shafqat Amanat Ali (Urdu: شفقت امانت علی) is the son of Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, making him part of the 9 generation old Patiala Gharana. He has been a student of Hindustani classical music since age four, his grandmother being his first teacher. His main influences in music come from his father and his uncle Ustad Fateh Ali Khan sahab as well as Roshanara Begum, to name a few.

Shafqat Amanat Ali is also the lead vocalist of a Pakistani pop band known as "Fuzon" which belongs to the Patiala gharana of classical music. The gharana is famous for its concentration on intricate taan-patterns and sargams. With his family, he has been part of the Pakistani musical tradition for eight generations now.He got his first chance in the Bollywood music scene when director Karan Johar Let him sing a song in his recent movie Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. The song Mithva was a #1 song on the Charts after the CD came out and is curently #1 in the UK and USA.This was the first Pakistani singer ever to have a song in a Karan Johar directed film. Following the success of Mitwa, Shafqat was heard in "Yeh Honsla", a beautiful and poignant song from the soundtrack of the Nagesh Kukunoor film Dor.

Distinction: Highly under-rated Shafqat probably is the best vocal talent ever happened to eastern classical music. With an extra-ordinary understanding of melody, progression, composition, emotional expression, melancholic touch all combined in a musical genius that came with a unique understanding of western arrangements from this gharana in form of Shafqat. With a voice more beautiful, heartfelt and touchy than Mehdi Hassan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and even his own dad Ustaad Amanat Ali Khan, Shafqat had all that lacked in any other vocal genius from east. With an ability to touch the lowest and highest octave with unimaginable sensuality is the key to his success.

Along with being as one of the best current singers in pakistan, Shafqat is also appreciated in India after the song he sang for an Indian Film, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. The song was called Mitwa, and was the best song in the movie. The song was appreciated and liked by the audience as well as the critics.
