Shabeg Singh

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shabeg Singh (19521984), was an Indian Army general. He is known for his role in training of Mukti Bahini volunteers during the Bangladesh Liberation War.

Major General Shabeg Singh was discharged from Indian Army with allegations of financial irregularities just a day before his retirement. This has been claimed due to the fall out with his superiors rather than due to the alleged charges.

Later he came under the influence of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and played an important role in the fortification of the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

He was killed in the Operation Blue Star. (See Khalistan.)
