[edit] Request for edit summary
Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 36% for major edits and 6% for minor edits. (Based on the last 148 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 22:59, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Occupation
Baon-n-jour! Nice work on the Occupation article. I've uploaded some more Occupation and Liberation images (from Jersey) to Commons - if you want to use any, they're in Category:Jersey. Mercie bian! Man vyi 14:11, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Helpme
I am preparing a page for the Parisian park - Parc Monceau (which is referenced by a few places but is a red link) - I see that the French page fr:Parc Monceau has a photo of the park. My question is, how do I include the French photo in my English page. I have tried a few variations of the following without success, fr:Image:Roseraie parc monceau.jpg and have searched Help for clues too.
- Hi! The image is uploaded to the French Wikipedia so there is no way to use it in the English Wikipedia. What you need to do is upload the image to the Commons (where all Wikipedias will be able to use it) or the English Wikipedia. To upload it you would first have to save the picture to your computer. When you upload it, it is very important to include all the original details provided.--Commander Keane 00:30, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sandbox - I have uploaded it. See if you can use it now. (Arundhati Bakshi (talk • contribs)) 00:44, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels
Hi thank you for joining the WikiProject. There is still plenty of scope for influencing things and making your contribution count. We are about establishing standards for Novel based articles and writing articles that meet our own and others high standards, and to improve Wikipedia's diet of articles on Fiction books, otherwise called Novels. If you have any questions, do ask. Please be very welcome. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 15:15, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:CastleCornet.png
Thanks for uploading Image:CastleCornet.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Hetar 06:17, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Whether you agree with the move or not, reverting it with a cut-and-paste move is one of the worst things you can do. Please refrain from doing this again. —Nightstallion (?) 12:55, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
== OK, I will refrain from doing this again - please point me in the direction of instructions as to the correct procedure. However, I suggest that you also leave the same message on User:David Warner's page, as he is the one who appears to be in most need of education in wikipedia guidelines. footie 14:28, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Help:Moving a page. If you can't move a page yourself, file a requested move. David did not per se violate the guidelines; he only moved the page because he thought the new title to be more correct, and he did not fuck up the edit history like you did. ;) No hard feelings, just trying to explain things. —Nightstallion (?) 14:36, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
That may be - but he did fuck up a perfectly sensible page title without discussion. footie 15:14, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Re: Occupation of... etc. - I created a proper encyclopedic title to be consistent with all as 1) it defines who & when and 2) for some places/countries there was more than one historical occupation. Also, leading with the word "Occupation" distorts Internet searches. Hope this clarifies matters. David Warner 17:13, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
OK Nightstallion - what makes it OK for this pillock to repeatedly move this page to a longer and no less illuminating page name, and not me ? Or are you going to give him a bollocking too ? footie 19:23, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- Stop it, both of you. I've reverted your changes and move-protected the page. If either of you wants to move the page anywhere, discuss it on the talk page first, and *don't cut and paste* it. This goes for both of you. Thanks. —Nightstallion (?) 16:04, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I object to your patronising tone with me, when you have left no messages on the page of the instigator (David Warner). If you had studied his discussion page you would have noticed that I am not the only one who objects to his vandalism - he has seriously pissed off contributors to the pages of the Occupations of Norway and Denmark too ! footie 19:34, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Channel Islands/Isle of Man geography stubs
Hi Sgfoote - just a quick note to you and the other editors I know of in either IoM or the CIs that the old {{UK-crown-geo-stub}} and Category:Crown Dependency geography stubs has been split into separate stubs for the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. Not sure if you ever used the old template and category, but if you did, the stubs are now marked with {{ChannelIslands-geo-stub}} or {{IsleofMan-geo-stub}} and categorised in Category:Channel Islands geography stubs and Category:Isle of Man geography stubs. Grutness...wha? 08:41, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

I removed the following from the Sark article after a few days but just wanted to make sure that you had a chance to see it. Thanks again for the correction.

- Mea maxima culpa. I obviously should have followed the Mr Pye Link before deeming the text "inexplicable." I apologize and thank you for catching what was a stupid and humbling goof-up on my part. House of Scandal 13:48, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
