Seymour was founded in 1922 as the Presbyterian Girls' College [1]. The school's motto, Crescam Ministrando "I will grow by serving", indicates the desire by the school to foster christian values of service and concern for others.

The Seymour Junior School caters for girls and boys at Pre School (3 years of age) and girls from Preparatory (4 years of age) through to the 5th school year. The Middle School (year 6 - year 9) aims to develop study skills and incorporates outdoor education and study tours. The Senior School caters for girls from year 10 to year 13. In the senior girls are organised into forms (pastoral care group) and school clans (houses).
