Sexsmith is a town in Northwestern Alberta, Canada, located 20 km north of the city of Grande Prairie (Longitude: -118°47'2.40, Latitude: 55°20'50.28). It is named after a settler to the region, David Sexsmith. Sexsmith was established in 1916, incorporated in 1929 and was granted town status in 1979. It was originally named Bennville after the settler "Benny" Foster, but the name was changed when it was determined that it was already in use. It has three schools: Robert W. Zahara Public School, Sexsmith Secondary School, and St. Mary's Catholic School.
Sexsmith is located in the Peace River Country region of Alberta, and as such sits in one of the most fertile growing areas in the province. It boasts of being the former "grain capital of the British Empire"; in 1949 it shipped more grain than any other port in the Empire.
Sexsmith has a number of Christian churches, and is home to the Peace River Bible Institute.
