Sex cord-stromal tumours are a group of sex cord ovarian neoplasms which accounts for 8% of all reported cases.
This group consists of the neoplastic proliferations of:
- granulosa (granulosa cell tumours)
- theca (thecomas)
- Sertoli and Leydig cells (Sertoli-Leydig cell tumours)
- fibroblasts (fibroma)
These tumours tend to be functioning and, by producing estrogens or androgens, may have dramatic clinical presentations.
Almost all are unilateral.
