"Sex and Candy" is the first single released by Marcy Playground from their self titled debut album Marcy Playground. It was released in 1997. "Sex and Candy" was a large hit in 1997, spending a then-record fifteen weeks at number one on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks chart. After the success of "Sex and Candy" Marcy Playground was written off by most people as a one-hit wonder.

- The song was parodied in comedian/musician "Weird Al" Yankovic's song "Polka Power" off his 1999 album Running With Scissors.
- It was also parodied on the popular television sketch show Saturday Night Live by Jimmy Fallon on Weekend Update featuring lyrics changed to go with a Halloween theme.
