Seven Queensland is an Australian television station, licensed to, and serving the regional areas of Queensland. It is owned and operated by the Seven Network. It operates from studios located in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, and operates using the callsign STQ, which stands for Sunshine Television, Queensland.

[edit] History

The station began as two different operators:

WBQ later changed its callsign to SEQ (as in South East Queensland), and its on-air name to "Sunshine Television". MVQ also changed its on air name to "Tropical Television".

Maryborough studios were birthplace of Agro. But was moved to Seven Brisbane studios and then Sydney before the show being cancelled

When Queensland was aggregated at the end of 1990, SEQ-8 and MVQ-6 operationally merged to become The Sunshine Television Network, and become the regional Queensland affiliate of the Seven Network. In 1995, Sunshine Television was purchased by Seven, and became Seven Queensland, taking on a generic Seven Network look.

[edit] News Bulletins

In 2004, Seven Queensland introduced news bulletins for the northern centres of Townsville and Cairns, amongst other areas, as a result of ABA regulations regarding local content on regional television.

The 6 o'clock local news for all regions are recorded and formatted from the Maroochydore studios, with the Sunshine Coast edition being the only region to have their news broadcast live. News editing is done by the local bureaus and sent to central Maroochydore studios in time for the 6pm news edition

In 2004-2005, The Fraser Coast office/news-bureau for production and news staff were relocated to a smaller office in Hervey Bay. The Maryborough studio was just too big and most news stories were filmed in the Bay. It's unknown what has happened to the Maryborough studio after the move.
