Seven Days in New Crete

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seven Days in New Crete, also known as Watch the North Wind Rise, is a seminal but out of print science fiction novel by Robert Graves.

The novel takes place in a future society in which a goddess religion has been established in a cultural reserve on the island of Crete. It is narrated by a man from the present day who is mysteriously transported forward in time. It culminates in a shocking ritual sacrifice similar to that described in The Golden Bough.
