[edit] WikiProject NBL
Hey Seth Cohen
I am wondering if you would like to join WikiProject NBL. I believe that this is something that you might be able to help me with, by creating user boxes and player boxes for it or even adding articles about Players

[edit] AFL season article naming convention
As a participant of WikiProject AFL I thought you might be interested in this. I have started a vote to get a consensus on the naming convention for AFL season articles. You can participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject AFL#AFL season article naming convention. Cheers. Remy B 13:17, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:BrisbaneBearsDesign.png
Thanks for uploading Image:BrisbaneBearsDesign.png. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:04, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hi Seth
Hi Seth. I notice you have created a set of articles, within Category:Adelaide_Football_Club, for the team roster of every season (Adelaide Crows 1991 Playing List, Adelaide Crows 1992 Playing List. I do not believe this information is useful encyclopedic content. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate list (see WP:NOT). You have also failed to provide a source for this information - Wikipedia articles must have sources (see WP:V). Proto///type 12:26, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image tagging for Image:Essendon80s.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Essendon80s.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Image:CarltonDesign.png
This image is a direct derivative work of the copyrighted image Image:2006 AFL Carlton2006.jpg. As such, Carlton Football Club retains rights to the image and it can only be used under terms of fair use on Wikipedia. Per terms of Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9, it may not be used outside of the main article namespace. Since it is not currently used in the main article namespace, and is unlikely to be used, I have tagged this image as an orphaned fair use image. The message below relates to that. --Durin 16:28, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:CarltonDesign.png)
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:CarltonDesign.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 16:28, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:MelbourneDesign.png
Thanks for uploading Image:MelbourneDesign.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Durin 17:55, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tagging of images
Greetings! I noticed you uploaded a number of images related to AFL teams. In particular, Image:SydneyDesign.png, Image:EssendonDesign.png, Image:AdelaideDesign.jpg, Image:KangaroosDesign.png, Image:BrisbaneLionsDesign.png and Image:PortAdelaideDesign.png. In the last of these, I looked around and found that this image was a derivative work of that team's jerseys, which the team holds copyrights to. I have changed the tag of that last image to reflect that. I believe the other images listed above are most likely derivative works of the respect team's jerseys as well. I invite you to update the tags of these images as I have done to the last of these.
Please note that even if you create something, if it is a copy of or takes significant elements from a copyrighted work, the copyright holder of the original work still retains rights. --Durin 16:56, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Any ideas how we can work within this obvious function of copyright? Anything outside stripes in team colours might be a bit hard to reproduce very closely, but putting "a lion" on the right field, providing the "chosen lion" is NOT the same one as Brisbane use, might get by. [edit] Your sports userboxes
Hi, a lot of your "local sports" user boxes use text colours with very little contrast compared to the background colour. I basically cannot read some of them (SAN, BOX, ADE). Not sure if you are the best person to fix them but I thought I'd let you know.Garrie 23:02, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Footyshow afl hdr2.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Footyshow afl hdr2.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Longhair 06:52, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Liverpool F.C. userbox.
I notice you edited the Liverpool userbox that I adopted (and you created!). May I say, given the history of the club, and particularly the nastiness at Hillsbrough, it is a good addition to put the motto there. --BlueSquadronRaven 22:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] use of fair use images on userboxes
I know the swans mascot photo isn't really very good.
BUT I put it there because the previous edit included a "fair use image" and if you look at User Talk:GarrieIrons#Re: Sydney Swans userbox you'll see it was deemed not acceptable at the time to have fair use images on userboxes...
user:mdmanser comments were:

- I severely doubt it. As I said, anything including text (which I think is what you proposed) is considered to be a derivative of a copyrighted logo, which is unable to be used in userspace. Don't stress over it though - it's not the first time this logo removal has occurred in NRL/AFL userboxes. Trust me from experience, it's not the end of the world.
when I mentioned using something "reminscant" of the Swans jersey (like what you have done).. Garrie 04:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
