Setsuna no Takemaru or Takemaru of Setsuna is a character who appears exclusively in the third InuYasha movie. He does not have any appearances outside the movie.

Takemaru was the commander of the forces that guarded the mansion of Izayoi, the mother of InuYasha. He always had deep feelings for Izayoi and when she became pregnant with InuYasha, he became insanely jealous. On the night of InuYasha's birth he placed the mansion under heavy guard. He went to the birthing room where Izayoi warned him that he and his men should leave at once. He did not take her warning and killed her.

Inu no Taishou, Izayoi's lover, reached the mansion shortly after his battle with Ryūkotsusei, took out most of the guards with Tessaiga's Kaze no Kizu, and cut off Takemaru's left arm. Takemaru ordered the mansion to be burned to the ground. Inside the burning building Inu no Taishou, finding Izayoi dead, revived her with Tenseiga and gave her the robe of the fire-rat. Takemaru entered the burning building intending to die in battle with Inu no Taishou. Inu no Taishou named InuYasha and told Izayoi to leave the building and live on. Shortly thereafter, the building collapsed on Inu no Taishou and Takemaru, leaving the audience unsure whether Inu no Taishou, the building collapsing on him, or the blood loss killed him.

Two hundred years later, he was resurrected by So'unga, and with the help of Sesshomaru's discarded left arm, he was able to wield it. In the end of his journey he realized that he never felt any negative feelings for Izayoi as she was concerned about him till the very end. His soul was finally released by a swing of the Tenseiga by Sesshomaru and thus after 200 years of living in purgatory his soul was finally set free.
