Sethu (1999) is a Tamil feature film directed by Bala. The film stars Vikram, Sivakumar and Abitha. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

The main character Sethu (played by Vikram) is a rough and macho college president, who uses violence as the only way to deal with people. He lives with his brother, a Judge (played by Sivakumar), and his sister-in-law, who is the only person who seems to understand him properly.
Sethu has a staple diet of yes-sir friends surrounding him. He comes across a timid girl, Abitha, who is the daughter of a poor temple priest, and starts to woo her. A wonderfully constructed sequence of events leads him to rescue her elder sister after she accidentally enters a brothel.
When the girl falls in love with him, Sethu becomes a victim of brothel-goons and ends up in a mental institution with brain damage. The rest of the film dwells on whether Sethu and Abitha are united.

- This was one of the most successful films released in the year 1999 successfully launching Vikram as a commercial hero.
- It was remade as a Kannada film entitled Huchha and Tere Naam in Hindi in 2003 and was one of the biggest hits of Bollywood that year.
