[edit] Substed your userboxes
Hey there, Sergeant Snopake. "Substing" means that, instead of your userboxes borrowing their text from the original template, you just have all the code on your page. (I took the liberty of substing yours for you.) This makes it so that, if a template is deleted, you still have the userbox. For instance, {{User sarcasm}} and {{User Boris}} were both nominated for deletion. If they had been deleted before I subst'd them, they would have disappeared from your userbox page.
The downside or substing is that it means you have all the ugly code right on your page, which is, well, ugly, and hard to wade through if you're trying to make edits.
See you around the 'pedia, JDoorjam Talk 21:15, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- I have my own alternative for that sarcasm userbox and the chance of someone finding it objectionable enough to list on WP:TfD is quite small.
- Try this one: {{User:nathanrdotcom/Userboxes/Sarcasm}}. You don't even have to subst it.
- It looks like this:
User:Nathanrdotcom/Userboxes/Sarcasm
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Smiley2.jpg)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Smiley2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
Non-form letter note: you can't use fair use images in user pages. Sorry. Telso 22:01, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, whatever. Sergeant Snopake 22:16, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- I suggest an alternative for smileyfaces: Commons:Category:Smilies. Any of these images can be used in Wikipedia by just using [[Image:image filename here]]. The filename would be anything after the Image: in the URL. — Nathan (talk) 19:32, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry if this spam seems a little weird, but it is the first spam.
Dear people:
User:Iamthejabberwock needs a new name! Would you please suggest a username for him. The reason for this is because he doesn't want to get confused with User:Thejabberwock.
Thanks, --GeorgeMoney T·C 00:39, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

- Well, I'm Bosnian, and I'm a bit taller then average; I'd say 5'8 would be average for other Bosnians I know. I'm the tallest in my family, though; strangely enough, I look nothing like my parents, so we think I'm more like one of my grand-grand parents. Master of Puppets That's hot. 22:55, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] not spam, it's Cats after all!
Re your note on my talk page, I actually do consider it spam, but all the same I'm flattered... well sort of.
I'm a closet cat lover really, and haven't managed to come out just yet. I don't own a cat (or have allowed one to own me), and yet, I'm feeling drawn to have a very loving and close relationship with one, and have since my early days...
But then again, perhaps I'm actually a cat myself, and being one, I'm just entirely fickle about the entire thing? I do have many traits I believe cats themselves have. Is that a sign?
In any case, I must thank you ever so much for bringing the cat lover's project to my attention!
--Hitrish 19:12, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- As flippant as my note above smacks (to me anyway), I want to point out I meant no disrespect and I actually appreciate your interest and the invitation to get involved in Cats.

[edit] Comments to your comments
Well, I would've just stolen you away for a while if I had met you. :p (dinner or something)
I was in London for all of 12 hours or so (stayed overnight to catch a flight - sadly, I didn't know anyone to give me a tour of the place); most of my time in the UK was in Liverpool area (Wallasey), though I did spend a week in Bolton. I also spent a day in Durham visiting a net-friend, and spent a day wandering around in Rhyl (just a short drive away from where I was staying). (I became addicted to Lilt during my visit and I miss it)
I also went to Aarhus (Denmark) for a week, to visit another friend and Rotterdam (Denmark) for a week to visit yet another.
There are some pictures here (I stole Wikipedia's <gallery>...</gallery> scheme).
(Sadly, all that was possible because of inheritance. It would be considerably more difficult to save the money to go again although I'd like to)
"Nathan" is short for..Nathan :p I've been asked that before, and it's just Nathan.
Thanks for the award. *hug* — Nathan (talk) 19:02, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Comments to your comments to your..oh forget it. ;)
I was around this area of Bolton and I didn't know about the castle. I had a chance to do some wandering around the town, which is what we did during my first few days (same with Liverpool area). I was dragged to a club when I was in Liverpool and I'm not the clubbing type.
London has its appeal but I've been told that a lot of Londoners have the perception that London is the centre of the earth (that reminds me of Toronto over here).
I loved being away from home for that long :) — Nathan (talk) 21:19, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
