Serphin Maltese

Serphin R. Maltese (Born: Corona neighborhood of Queens, New York City on December 7, 1932) is a Republican New York State Senator representing Central and Southern Queens.

Maltese first elected to the New York State Senate in November of 1988. He was reelected in 2004 to his ninth term on the Republican, Conservative and Independence Party lines with opposition despite representing a strongly Democratic district. In 2006, he was nearly defeated, narrowly winning against a relatively unknown Democrat, 51%-49%.
