This part involved leading eight kids (four boys and four girls), who were chosen after an audition, expedition leader Bruce Parry and assistant expedition leader Emma Jay, into the heart of the Borneo forest, Malaysia, to help the primates there. The most part of this involves in the building a feeding platform for the orphaned orangutans in the wild by the eight kids. To complete this task, the team had to battle rain, leeches and homesickness.

The Audition witnessed more than a thousand participants. They were tested in obstacle races, experience before the camera and willingness. In the end, 16 semi finalists were chose for a two-day exercise to determine the eight finalists.

The Semi-Final audition consisted of an obstacle course, observation of team skills and climbing a pole 9m high and close contact with animals.

In the end eight finalists were finally chosen and they were Daniel, Larry, Luke and JC from the boys' side and Imogen, Laura, Susan and Hannah from the girls' side.

They were chosen by Bruce Parry, Emma Jay and the Series Producer Marshall Corwin. The first episode deals entirely with the audition.

After the had arrived in Borneo, the team went into the heart of the jungle carrying their gear and having a long trek to the basecamp where they started to build a feeding platform around a tree.

[edit] Developments and feelings of the team

Building the Platform of the platform witnessed several developments. For most part the team were constantly attacked by the usual rain and the blood sucking leeches. Several members of the team felt homesick. Another is the development of a small crush on Imogen, who already had a boyfriend at home, by Larry and on Larry by Hannah leading to Hannah being jealous of Imogen. Another is that Daniel felt for the most part isolated and sick. Emma, the assistant leader was quite harsh and bullying to JC in one episode in order to favor another boy. The team were helped to build the platform by some local carpenters. Another development was that one of the orangutans had stolen one of their cameras which was later damaged and retrieved.
