Sergio Bonelli

Sergio Bonelli (born December 2, 1932), an Italian comic book author and publisher.

Sergio Bonelli was born in Milan, the son of Gian Luigi Bonelli, the creator of Tex Willer and many others italian comic strips. In order to distinguish himself from his father, he has almost always writing his scripts under the pseudonym of Guido Nolitta. He made his debut as a scriptwriter in 1957, with the translation into Italian the Spanish series Verdugo Ranch, and he wrote its concluding episode (artwork by Franco Bignotti). In 1958 Bonelli created his first character Un ragazzo nel Far-West, also illustrated by Franco Bignotti. In late 1950s and early 1960s Bonelli wrote several episodes of Little Ranger.

In 1960 Bonelli wrote Il Giudice Bean, series composed of six adventures, illustrated by Sergio Tarquinio. In same year he meet the illustrator Gallieno Ferri. In 1961 Bonelli and Ferri created Zagor. Bonelli wrote for Zagor almost all stories until 1980 (number #182). In 1975 Bonelli created Mister No series, which still continues succesfully today.

In 1977 Bonelli wrote the script of the book L'Uomo del Texas (illustrated by Aurelio Galleppini). Bonelli wrote many stories for Tex Willer, starting from late 1970s with number #183. In 1990 he created the mini-series River Bill (artwork by Francesco Gamba).

He is the president of Sergio Bonelli Editore (former CEPIM), Italy's major comics publisher (titles include Tex, Dylan Dog, Mister No and many others).
