Belarussian boxer Sergei Liakhovich (Belarussian: Сяргей Ляховіч, Siarhiej Lachovič, also Lyakhovich), born on May 29, 1976 in Vitebsk, Belarus, is a former WBO heavyweight boxing champion. His boxing nickname is "the White Wolf." Liakhovich won the WBO title from Lamon Brewster via unanimous decision on April 1, 2006. He lost the title to Shannon Briggs by TKO in the 12th round on November 4, 2006. His first defeat occurred the 1st June 2002 when he was KOed by Maurice Harris in the 9th round.
Liakhovich has not yet received the attention and acclaim of the Klitschko brothers (Wladimir and Vitali). His manager is Ivaylo Gotsev, who also [1] manages heavyweight contender Samuel Peter.
Liakhovich, who represented Belarus at the 1996 Olympic games, was a longtime amateur who amassed a 145-15 record [2] before turning pro in 1998. He now has a record of 24 wins, with 14 coming by way of knockout, and 2 losses.
