Serene (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When Ryan Beatty was just a mere teenager, he began writing songs to sort out his personal and spiritual ideas. By graduation, Beatty was prepping for college life at Grove City College in Pittsburgh and had a guitar in hand. He made his debut at South by Southwest in 2001 and the Arena Rock Recording Co. label was so impressed, they offered him a record deal. This surprised Beatty, but he went with it. He and friend Jesse Sprinkle (drums)--also of Poor Old Lu, Dead Poetic, Demon Hunter, and A Cold Vein, and brother of Aaron Sprinkle--tinkered around a studio in upstate New York, forming what would become Serene. Matt Green (guitar) and Erik Gust (bass) assisted in recording while Sydney Rentz added vocals. By 2002, Serene was complete with Beatty, Gust, Sprinkle, and Green; their self-titled debut album appeared in July.
