In particle physics, sequestering is a procedure of isolating different types of physical processes or different particle species by separating them geometrically in additional dimensions of space. Sequestering has the capacity to explain the smallness of many interactions that are known to be weak from the experiment although they would be expected to be rather strong according to generic theories. Lisa Randall is the most famous advocate of sequestering.

In court proceedings, the judge may order to sequester the jury. This involves isolation of jurors outside of court proceedings, thus disallowing any external contact. This measure is usually taken only for high profile cases, where the contact with the outside world may prejudice jury's verdict.
