Talk:September 11, 2001 attack opportunists

From VFD:

  • September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack opportunists - There's not much useful content. "Some people" doesn't say much. Gasoline price gouging is the only useful fact I see on there. --Jiang 10:38, 2 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Delete as hopelessly POV. Daniel Quinlan 02:55, Nov 3, 2003 (UTC)
    • Delete. Although it's hard to believe, we already have a page on Gasoline price gouging following the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack. Maximus Rex 05:00, 3 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Delete, as should the "Gasoline price gouging" page. Fuzheado
    • Delete. -- Stephen Gilbert 00:24, 5 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Delete this one, I've merged the content into a section of the gas-gouging article, keep that, at least until it's been merged soemwhere else. JamesDay 00:54, 5 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Keep. Gas-gouging is a subject under opportunism, not the other way around. Both entries have perfectly legitimate content. --The Cunctator
      • Both subjects cover the same content. There's no need to repeat the same info twice. Move everything at gas gourging to here and redirect, if that suits you, but we cannot keep both. So gas gourging is not a subject under "Gasoline price gouging"? What?? --Jiang
        • I did the merge. Still unconvinced (either way). Martin 22:15, 6 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Keep. If the content is redundant, merge it, bury it in the history. No need to delete. -- Taku
    • Delete, but merge anything of long-term historical value. -- Minesweeper 08:12, 7 Nov 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Anthrax attacks

The anthrax attacks are mentioned as a cause of 'opportunism', but in reality the anthrax attacks were opportunism - by far the most significant instance of 9-11 opportunism, in my opinion. The first mailing occured one week after 9-11 and the notes make direct reference to 9-11. Mirror Vax 12:05, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Invasion of Iraq

Not entirely 9/11 driven.Geni 02:30, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Agree, and I think its very POV. It should be deleted -- CaptainAmerica 19:36, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Invasion of Iraq=

- In the incident of 9/11 opportunism that has had the greatest consequences, President George W. Bush used the terrorist attacks to justify the invasion of Iraq in 2003, notwithstanding a complete lack of evidence that Iraq had any connection to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Shortly before the invasion, for example, in his 2003 State of the Union address, Bush stated that "[b]efore September the 11th, many in the world believed that Saddam Hussein could be contained." Only after the invasion was underway did Bush admit that "we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th."

Where's the POV? Specifically?

I personally remember the day vividly, and I live in Missouri, and gouging occured in kansas city just a short while before rado reported it. - preschooler@heart 02:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
