As described, this rank sounds functionally equivalent to Brigadier, in the UK (etc) sense. Would that be about right? Alai 17:47, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

It probably would be a good equivalent, just as long as its made clear that this rank is not the same thing as a Brigadier General. -Husnock 20:51, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

I assume they are broadly equivalent as far as inter-operable pecking order purposes are concerned, since that seems to how Brigadiers are treated. But the key difference being, Brigadier + Senior Colonel = senior field officer, whereas BG = junior general officer. Alai 00:27, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Colonel General comparison

The reference here to Colonel Generals seems at variance with the information in that article (or at least to be confusing in that regard). Does China, for example, actually have them? In no case do they seem to be an equivalent rank to BG, so it seems problematic to say they "make up for" such a lack. Alai 05:11, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

The rank of colonel general is a four star general in the prussien army (Generaloberst), one rank below fieldmarshall. In the russian army it is a three star general.
