Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

While at the fair the Crone turns a monkey totem of Hear No Evil, See No Evil, and Speak No Evil into a real monkey. This monkey takes Paige's voice, Phoebe's hearing, and Piper's eyesight. They don't lose their senses until they really need them and Paige loses her voice while singing to Nate, her boyfriend, at a piano bar. Phoebe loses her hearing during a very big meeting, and Piper loses her sight while driving. The Charmed Ones are very vulnerable during this state and a Demonic King sends a Kazi Demon to attack them. The demon gets hit with a stun potion so the sisters put the crystal cage around the demon to interrogate him, but Piper's senses are getting stronger when she hears the Crone singing to Wyatt in order to kidnap him. Leo goes just in time to save Wyatt, but the Crone takes him instead of Wyatt. The sisters also realize that the can talk telepathically. The Crone comes again to take Wyatt, but he's with Piper so she uses Paige's voice to say that Leo is in the kitchen and that she will look over Wyatt. The potion to vanquish the Crone is ready and Piper realizes that she was tricked. When the Charmed Ones get to Wyatt the Crone has him to use his force field to protect her and Paige can't call for him without a voice so Phoebe and Piper do, they save Wyatt, and vanquish the Crone. When they realize they forgot about Leo, Wyatt orbs Piper to him and Piper sets him free.

  • Crone: a well known and respected advisor of evil whose ability to foresee the future makes her very dangerous. She is often heard of more than seen. She is an upper level demon who carries sway over the distribution of upper level demonic powers. A very high level demon, vanquishing spell of enormous power is required to kill her.
  • Kazi King: the leader of the factions of demons known as Kazis.
  • Kazi Demon: a demonic servant of the Kazi King. The Kazi Demons are all connected to the King and vice versa.

  • Monkey Totem: Created by a sorcerer after being betrayed by his magical monkey, who stole his master's voice. He turned the monkey into a carved wooden totem, which has ability to steal the sight, hearing, and speech.

  • The episode title is a play on words to the Jane Austen book Sense and Sensibility.
  • This episode was a Brian Krause's idea. He uses references of the movie The Miracle Worker, which was about Helen Keller, a little girl with no human senses.
  • During this time actress Rose McGowan was attempting a venue into music outside the show and was given the opportunity to flex her vocal talents in front of cameras. She sang Fever, originally sung by Peggy Lee.
  • The monkey in this episode steals senses, as in the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil phrase. This is previously hinted at in the episode Astral Monkey.
  • We see Wyatt use his protective shield again to protect himself but, this time he uses it when he's told there's danger.
  • Wyatt is able to sense where Leo is and orbs himself and Piper to the Crone's lair; presumably in the Underworld.
  • However, in the season six finale, Wyatt is in the Underworld and can't orb out of it. This is likely a continuation error on the part of the writers. On the other hand, it is also likely that it is easier to or from the normal world to the underworld than the other way around.
  • The three sisters display a mild sub-conscious sororal telepathy which Leo explained has "always been there", and is "part of what makes the Power of Three so strong". This understanding of each other, is apparently always present between the sisters.
  • In the episode They're Everywhere Piper and Prue showed a form of telepathy when they used the "To Hear Secret Thoughts" spell to speak to each other using their thoughts.
