Bamako Senou International Airport (IATA: BKO, ICAO: GABS) is Mali's main airport in Bamako, the capital of the Republic of Mali in West Africa. It is located some 15 km south of downtown Bamako within the limits of the District of Bamako. It was open to traffic in 1974. Passenger traffic is steadily increasing: 403,380 (1999), 423,506 (2003), 486,526 (2004), 516,000 (2005) and is predicted to reach over 900,000 by 2015 under a low (4%) yearly growth rate scenario (source: www.mcamali.org). The longest scheduled non-stop commercial flight from Bamako is by Kenya Airways to Nairobi (duration: 7h30). The highest frequency is on the Bamako-Dakar sector with 27 weekly flights. Domestic flights also serve Mali's regional capitals Kayes, Mopti, Timbuktu, Sikasso, Gao, and Kidal.
