Sengoku Jieitai 1549 (戦国自衛隊1549 (Sengoku Jieitai 1549?)) or Samurai Commando Mission 1549 is the 2005 sequel to a Japanese made feature length film and comic book series focusing on the adventures of a modern day Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) element that accidentally manages to travel to the Warring States period of Japanese history.
Both the film and comic book are based on a prior film with the same title (minus the year) made in 1979 with Japanese cult actor Sonny Chiba.
The comic book series of the same name was authored by Ryo Hanmura.
